COACH ROCKY'S 8U FUTURE STARS LEAGUE RULES

SCORING RULES:
2 out of 3 games, games are played the first to 7 points.
At 6-6, one more point is played to end the game with a score of 7-6.
Game scoring is as follows:
Player one will serve one point from the deuce side of the court and then one point from the ad side of the court.
Player two will then serve one point from the deuce side of the court and then one point from the ad side of the court.
This will continue until one team reaches seven (7) points. Teams switch ends after each game and next team starts serve.
To enter the scores for an 8U match in TennisLink,
please be sure to enter the 3rd set score as 1-0 Result, Coach Rocky will handle this part.
RACQUETS AND BALLS:
Players must use a 21-23” racquet. Red balls should be provided by the home team.
COURT MONITORS:
Monitoring 8U matches is in an effort to insure that our new players starting their tennis experience learn the game and the sport of tennis correctly. Monitors may be used if requested by one or both of the players. If the players are having a problem with scoring, tie break or any element of the sport of tennis, captains, or their designee, from both teams may approach the court and assist in resolving a specific problem the player or players are having. A parent may not assist with their own child’s match.
SERVING:
For the beginner level, we will allow players to use drop hits (letting the ball bounce first) as serves for this season. Players should try to progress into the overhand or underhand serve (all underhand serves must be hit in the air) by the end of the season. Please note that all serves must land in the appropriate box.
For the intermediate level, players should progress into the overhand or underhand serve (all underhand serves must be hit in the air) by week 4. Starting with the 4th week of play, drop hits will not be allowed. Please note that all serves must land in the appropriate box. This doesn't pertain to our team, as we will play beginner this season.
PLAYING TWICE:
Two players may play two positions per match (referred to as "playing twice").
FOOT FAULT:
If you see that a player’s foot is touching the baseline when they are serving then we ask that you please remind the player to stay behind the line in the future. Remember that these players are just starting their tennis experience and we want them to have an enjoyable time learning the game – no need to call foot faults on them!
CHEERING: (Loud screaming, yelling and constant clapping is frowned upon)
As we are encouraging our players to have fun competing, we would like to keep the one-sided cheering to a minimum, Although we know parents can be excited, please be aware that all the players are new to the sport and we want to encourage all of the players when they are competing. So, if you are cheering for your player please cheer for the other player as well.
